McConnell, Samuel Darwin, 1834-189?.
Attorney and Military Captain.
Samuel McConnell was born on January 14, 1834 in Liberty County, Georgia. He was educated in Walthourville, Georgia. He began studying law and was admitted to the Ocala Bar in November of 1860. At this time, McConnell also served as President of the East Florida Seminary. August 27, 1861, McConnell married Miss Mary E. Brumby, daughter of R. T. Brumby. That same year, when the Civil War broke out in 1861, he enlisted and was made a captain.
He served until 1864 when he was severely wounded. He then returned to his law practice, and in 1871 moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where he continued his work. In 1880 he returned to Ocala, Florida, and he died sometime in the 1890s.
