William Thomas was born on 20 October 1788, the son of the Revd William Thomas (1767-1827) and his wife Mary, ne Greenwood (1765-1827). He married Sarah Strange (1802-1890) on 22 June 1830. The couple lived in Enfield, Middlesex, and had eight children. Thomas died on 22 November 1863.
