Eugene C. Tidball graduated from Billings Senior High School in 1948. He attended the University of Montana, Missoula receiving his B.S., B.A., and J.D. by 1955. He worked briefly for the Tirgood Oil Company of Casper, Wyoming before becoming executive director of the Montana Legislative Council in 1957, a position he held until 1965. He served as a legal counsel for the Anaconda Company 1965-1975 when he became Vice President, Legal, Environmental and Public Affairs Montana Mining Division, the Anaconda Company, Butte, Montana a position he held for two years. He served as senior counsel and general attorney for the Atlantic Richfield Company from 1977 until his retirement in 1992. He currently serves as a Trustee Emeritus, University of Montana Foundation; University of Montana College of Arts and Sciences Advisory Council; and University of Montana's President's Advisory Council.
