Alexander Black was born in Brooklyn, worked as a journalist, and as an editor for Newspaper Feature Service and King Features Syndicate. He wrote novels and essays, and was also a photographer, and is probably best remembered for his innovative "picture plays," combining stereoptic slides with spoken dialogue.
