St Johns Church of England Church was the first church consecrated in Western Australia. The consecration was performed by Bishop Short of Adelaide in 1848. Church of England services were held in Western Australia from the colony's inception in 1829. The Church of England in Australia was established in 1962 and, in 1981, became the Anglican Church of Australia.
