Newspaper Guild of Albany, New York. Local 34.
Historical note: Founded in 1934 as the Tri-City Newspaper Guild of Albany, Schenectady, Troy & Nearby Cities, Local 34, the Newspaper Guild of Albany began as a union of reporters and editors but had organized other occupations within the newspaper industry, including janitors, drivers, and employees in the business, sales, and circulation departments.
The guild has also opened units in Hudson and Glens Falls, N.Y. The guild's most famous strike, in 1964, formed the basis for William Kennedy's first published novel, "The Ink Truck."
