Formed by citizens of Worcester, Mass., concerned with the fate of the Salisbury Mansion, original home of Stephen Salisbury (1746-1829), an 18th century structure of architectural and historic value; sought grant monies and chiefly rehabilitated the building; in 1985 merged with Worcester Historical Museum, retaining the museum's name; the mansion is now a museum and used for a variety of purposes.
