Scientific Temperance Federation
In 1880 the Woman's Christian Temperance Union (WCTU) created a Dept. of Scientific Temperance Instruction, headed by Mary H. Hunt (1830-1906), to disseminate medical and social facts about alcohol. After Hunt's death, Cora F. Stoddard (1872-1936) continued the work through the Scientific Temperance Federation (STF) of Boston.
