Wilcox was born on April 3, 1903 to George H. and Edna (Terry) Wilcox of Missaukee County (Mich.). He married Isabel (surname unknown, d. 1987) on Nov. 26, 1925 in Mount Pleasant (Mich.). After graduating from CMU (date unknown), he worked as the supervisor of the Osceola school district, 1931-1951. He was a professor of education, 1951-1967, and Assist. Dir. of the Dept. of Special Studies, which was then part of the Div. of Field Services at CMU, 1957-1964. He died on March 13, 1990, survived by his daughter, sister, and grandchildren.
