The British miniaturist Sarah Biffin was born without hands and legs to a farmer in Somerset County in 1784. She learned to paint with her mouth, and used her talents at county fairs, where she was discovered by the Earls of Morton. Her miniature portraits were highly appreciated by nobility and the royal court.
