University of Utah. Extension Division
Variant namesCorrespondence and extension courses were officially begun at the University of Utah in 1893 in order to provide courses for individuals unable to attend regular classes on campus. A Department of Extension Work was formed at the University of Utah in 1911 and in 1916 was reorganized into a distinct school at the University called the "Extension Division." In 1964 the Extension Division was renamed the Division of Continuing Education. The Division of Continuing Education became the current Academic Outreach and Continuing Education in 2000.
