Tabeau, Pierre Antoine, 1755-1820
Variant namesPierre Antoine Tabeau (1755-1820), born in Lachine, Quebec, attended the Seminary (now Laval University), 1771-73, and in 1776 he went west. He was associated with the North West Company and in 1803 accompanied Régis Loisel on an expedition commissioned by Lt. Gov. de Lassus to investigate British intrusions in the Upper Missouri territory, its resources, and the Indians. He lived with the Arikara Indians in 1804 and there met Lewis and Clark.
