Bradford was a graduate of the University of Utah and received his doctorate in economics from Harvard University. He was affiliated with the U.S. Senate Banking Committee, the American Bankers Association, the Joint Economic Committee of Congress, and the National Credit Union Administration. He also served as bishop of the LDS ward in Arlington, Virginia.
