Loyal National Repeal Association of Ireland
Loyal National Repeal Association, organization.
Irish politician Daniel O'Connell (1775-1847), known as "The Liberator," was the leader of the movement for the repeal of the Act of Union (1800) between Great Britain and Ireland. O'Connell founded the Association in 1841. Located in Dublin, the organization sought to demonstrate overwhelming popular support for the Repeal to the British Government.
Thomas Mathew Ray, politician.
Ray (1801-1881) served as secretary of the Dublin Trades Political Union. Ray was secretary of the Loyal National Repeal Association through its existence, writing nearly all the association's correspondence. Ray died in Dublin in 1881.
