Hansen, the youngest of six children, spent the first ten years of life in South Jordon, Utah, and the next ten years a few minutes away in Sandy, Utah. Hansen attended Alta High School where he played football for three years. After graduation from high school, Hansen spent two years in Georgia while serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Hansen then lived in both Provo, Utah and Las Vegas, Nevada prior to moving to Germany for eighteen months. Eventually Hansen returned to Provo, where he attended Brigham Young University.
