The Pennington family of New Jersey is descended from Ephraim Pennington, one of the first settlers of Newark, N.J. Pennington Satterthwaite was the son of Rosalie Pennington and Franklin Satterthwaite. He was born in Newark, N.J.; graduated from the College of New Jersey (now Princeton University) in 1893; then studied art in Paris till 1900. After returning from Paris, Satterthwaite became an architect in New York and New Jersey. He also served as a secretary of the industrial branch of the War Department with the District Board Division No. 2 of New Jersey during WW II. He died on April 27, 1946 in Summit, N.J.
