The Anchorage Engineering Geology Evaluation Group was formed two days after the 1964 Alaska Earthquake at the urging of Dr. Lidia Selkregg, a geologist working for the Alaska State Housing Authority. The group was composed of forty geologists, soil scientists, and engineers from federal and state agencies, and from private companies. Under the sponsorship of the Alaska State Housing Authority and the City of Anchorage the group mapped and outlined slide areas and areas of damage and potential danger in Anchorage. The group issued several reports which provided basic data to guide city officials in replacing utilities and to promote urban renewal. The group issued its final report on May 8, 1964.
