Private (PVT) John F. Bartlett entered the U.S. Army at Fort Dix, New Jersey and served as a member of the 3rd Platoon, Service Battery, 34th Field Artillery Battalion. Bartlett was briefly assigned to the 6218 A.S.U Replacement Battalion at Fort Lewis, Washington before permanent assignment to the 502nd Ordnance Depot in Korea in October 1953.
