Courtney L. Faught (b. 1918, Jackson, Ohio-d. Sept. 14, 1991), U.S. Air Force officer, entered military service as an aviation cadet and received his commission and pilot wings in May 1942. During World War II, he served with the 41st Squadron in the Southwest Pacific, flying 121 combat missions. Following the War, he commanded the 6th, 8th and 7th Troop Carrier Squadrons, and became director of operations for the 315th Air Division, Far East Air Forces. Later in the 1950s, General Faught assumed command of the 1608th Air Transport Group and became deputy chief of operations, Western Transport Air Force. In the 1960s, he had a number of key assignments at Air Force Headquarters and then returned to the Military Air Lift Command, appointed chief of staff in 1969. He retired in 1972.
