What is known in 2008 as the Agri-Life Council was founded sometime during or before 1922 at N. C. State as the Agriculture Club; later, the name was changed to the Agricultural Council, and then to the Agri-Life Council. The Council was created to form a collective organization to represent students from all disiciplines within the College of Agriculture (later, the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences), and acts as the unofficial student organization of the College. Membership to the Council has been determined by different criteria over the years, but has typically been constructed to include an equal number of representatives from every departmental club within the College, as well as representatives from those departments without student clubs. The purpose of the Council is to act as a representative body for all students in the College, while also engaging in activities that will promote leadership in and enthusiasm for all areas of agriculture and the life sciences.
