Isabel Marion Smith was the youngest daughter of George Murray Smith, whose publishing firm was Smith, Elder & Co. She married Reginald John Smith also a publisher who joined her fathers firm. As such she was also related to the Cherry-Garrard family, for Reginald was a cousin of Apsley Cherry-Garrard who served as assistant zoologist during the British Antarctic Expedition, 1910-1913 (leader Robert Falcon Scott). Her husband undertook the publishing of accounts of the expedition. Isabella died in 1950.
