Bruce Muirden was born in Melbourne and educated at Adelaide University where he studied history. He worked as a journalist in Australia and the United Kingdom. From 1949-1952, he edited his own literary journal "Austovert". He received many favourable reviews for his study of the Australia First Movement, "The puzzled patriots", published in 1968. Much of the source material came from Keith Bath who had been interned and taken part in the Clyne Inquiry 1944-1945.
