Doug Palmer, who also wrote under the pseudonym Facino Cane, settled in Berkeley during the Free Speech Movement of the 1960's. He was a street poet who published several volumes of poetry, and also co-edited an anthology, entitled "Poems read in the spirit of peace and gladness" (1966). He was a co-founder of the Peace and Gladness Poets, Artists, Musicians and Sympathizers Union, which was affiliated with the Industrial Workers of the World.
