Commodore Perry Liston was born on March 31, 1821. He was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Iowa in 1850, married Elizabeth Reeves, and accompanied Thomas Hatch and James Dean from Utah to New Mexico in 1878. Liston died in Woodruff, Arizona, in 1879.
