Sterns, E. E. (Emerson Ellick), 1846-1926.
Emerson Ellick Sterns (1846-1926), a botanist, was Chair of the Botanical Garden Committee of the Torrey Botanical Club. In 1888 he was appointed to lead the organizational and fundraising efforts to create the New York Botanical Garden. As a member of the Torrey Botanical Club, he collaborated with Nathaniel Lord Britton on a catalogue of the flowering plants and ferns native to New York City and environs.
