Kenneth Kopf (1904-1997), a native of Iowa, received his B.S. (1930) in Agronomy and Ph. D (1952) in Genetics from Iowa State College (University). He began his career as a plant breeder and worked for F.H. Woodful & Sons (1933-1944), and the Hawaiian Pineapple Company (1944-1949). After working briefly at Iowa State (1949-1952), he moved to the United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organization (1952) in Iraq. He then worked as an agricultural advisor for the the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), including stints in Korea, Colombia, Nigeria, and Vietnam.
