Michael S. Glaser, poet laureate of Maryland, served as both an administrator and professor at St. Mary's College of Maryland for over 35 years (1970-2008). Born in Chicago in 1943, he received his B.A. from Denison University and the M.A. and Ph.D. from Kent State University. He co-founded and directed the bi-ennial Literary Festival and the annual Voices reading series. He has published over 500 poems and three poetry collections. He is the recipient of the Homer Dodge Endowed Award for Excellence in Teaching, and the Columbia Merit Award from the Poetry Committee of the Greater Washington, D.C. area.
