McLean, Edward, 1905-1982
Variant namesEdward McLean was born in Victor, Colorado, in 1905 and spent many years in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He had three careers - that of a dancer, a master bookbinder, and a publisher. His publishing company, Libros Escogidos, published three books: Fifteen New Mexico Santos (1941); Vicente Silva and his 40 Bandits (1947); and Three Letters from St. Louis (1958). McLean held positions at the Library of Congress, the Folder Library, the Detroit Public Library, Duke University, and Arizona State University. He developed a highly individualistic American technique in bookbinding which he taught across the country. McLean died in Colorado in September 1982 at the age of 76.
