Pastor; born Wayne LeRoy Gordon on August 25, 1953; converted and called at age 16 to work among inner city Blacks youths; graduated from Wheaton College, 1975; moved into Lawndale community of Chicago, 1975; taught and coached at Chicago high school (1975-1981); began Bible studies with community young people, which eventually evolved into Lawndale Community Church (1978); graduated with M.A. in New Testament from Northern Baptist Seminary, 1984; married and had three children.
