North Carolina State University. 125th Anniversary Planning Committee.

Hide Profile

The 125th Anniversary Planning Committee was formed in 2011 to plan the year-long celebration of the 125th anniversary of the founding of North Carolina State University. The celebration began on March 5, 2012 and ended approximately a year later. The Committee's aim was to promote the celebration of all things NC State and unite the campus while promoting the Strategic Plan laid out by the University in 2011. Some events commemorating the anniversary include a library exhibit on the history of the University, the Dedication of the James B. Hunt Library, new campus banners, a book on the history of the Chancellor's Residence, and an on-campus event for students.

Some desired outcomes of the Anniversary was to build pride among faculty, staff, students, and alumni, to reinforce the idea that NC State is the university of the future, to reduce barriers to interdisciplinary collaboration across campus, and to increase understanding of the history of NC State. The Committee developed a theme and logo and was given a budget to accomplish these outcomes. It was disbanded by 2013.
