Bunnett, Joseph F.

Joseph Bunnett (1921- ) graduated in chemistry from Reed in 1942 and gained a Ph.D. from the University of Rochester three years later. He taught at Reed from 1946 through 1952 and then at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Brown University, and finally the University of California at Santa Cruz, where he retired in 1991. Active professionally, Bunnett became an expert in the detection and destruction of chemical warfare agents and served with many national and international bodies such as the IUPAC, some working to deal with the decommissioning of the Soviet military arsenal.
