Atkins Institution of the Arnold Arboretum.
Founded by Edwin F. Atkins of Boston, the Atkins Institution was formally inaugurated in 1901 and given by him to Harvard University in 1919. It was located on 200 acres in Soledad, Cienfuegos, Cuba, and established as a living collection of woody plants from the tropics and subtropics. In 1932 Atkins was transferred to Arnold Arboretum as the Atkins Institution of the Arnold Arboretum.
