Riccarda Zernatto was Guido's wife. The Zernattos emigrated to the U.S. in Oct. 1940; Guido became a professor at Fordham University in 1941. Guido Zernatto and Hans Rott were presidents of the board of the Austrian National Committee, based in New York City. The Zernattos were good friends of Alma Mahler and Franz Werfel, and had been in contact with Alma and Franz in France during the exile period following the Anschluss. In her memoir Mein Leben, Alma refers to Guido as a dear friend, and comments on his writerly talent and his early death.
