Historical Background

John William "Sky" Dunlap was an Orange County, California journalist, publisher, and owner-operator of the Pacific Clipping Service. Dunlap, born March 8, 1912, was nicknamed "Sky" because of his height: he was 6'8" tall. He married Velma Bishop in 1934 and the couple started an independent newspaper in Orange County called The Globe . He died on November 15, 1968 in Santa Ana, California.
