Augustus Henry Tulk, librarian, was born in England, son of Charles Augustus Tulk (1786-1849) and his wife Susannah (née Hart). He migrated to Australia in 1854 on his schooner, the Guyon. In 1856 he became the librarian at the Melbourne Public Library, and helped build up a notable collection of 80,000 volumes.
