Lawyer and art critic, of Little Rock, Ark.

George B. Rose was born on 10 July 1860 in Batesville, Ark., the son of U.M. and Margaret T. (Gibbs) Rose. At the age of five his parents moved to Little Rock. He received his education at St. John's College in Little Rock and studied law under his father. He was admitted to the bar in Jan. 1879. In July 1881 he was taken into his partnership by his father, and in 1893 W.E. Hemingway joined the firm. In 1905 the firm of Rose, Hemingway & Rose merged with Cantrell & Loughborough. George Rose was also a well known art critic and authored two books, Renaissance Masters (1898) and The World's Leading Painters (1912). He married Marion Kimball on 2 May 1882 and the couple had two children, a daughter who died in infancy, and a son, Clarence.
