Curran, Joseph R.
Variant namesHarriet Goodhue Hosmer, 1830-1908, had, by 1860, won an international reputation as the leading woman sculptor of her day. She was raised and studied art in Massachusetts, studied anatomy in the medical department of St. Louis (Mo.) University. In 1852, she went to Rome and studied with English sculptor John Gibson for seven years.
