James B. Gillett was a Texas Ranger.

James Buchanan Gillett was born in Austin, Texas, on November 4, 1856. He joined the Texas Rangers in 1875 and served with them until his resignation in 1881. Gillett was Deputy Marshal of El Paso from 1882-1885 and later managed several cattle ranches. His memoir Six years with the Texas Rangers was published in 1921. Gillett died on June 11, 1937, in Marfa, Texas. He is included in the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame.
