Felix Neumann was born in Konigsburg, Germany in 1858 where he began his professional career as a journalist. In 1886 he came to America and became involved in the book trade. In 1900 he went to the Library of Congress and in 1908 to the Army Medical Library. He received an honorary doctorate from Georgetown University in 1931 and retired from federal service in 1932. He was also involved in the Washington Anthropological Society and was very interested in library science, the history of medicine and history of science.
