The Gourock Ropeworks Export Co Ltd , Port Glasgow, Inverclyde, Scotland, was created as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Gourock Ropeworks Co Ltd , Port Glasgow. The company was registered in 1903 to act as general exports and importers and trade in merchandise of all kinds beyond just the rope and canvas products of the Gourock Ropeworks Co Ltd. The company also took over the Gourock Ropeworks Co Ltd branches in Australia and South Africa. In 1923 a resolution at an Extraordinary Meeting of the company voted that the company continue to exist for another 20 years, even if the company was no longer trading, at which point it would be wound up. The records are unclear, but it is assumed that the company ceased to exist in 1943 by which time much of the firm's work was being undertaken by individual subsidiary companies of the Gourock Ropeworks Co Ltd.
