Ralph E. Haines served in the Mediterranean Theater in World War II (WWII), especially with the 88th Infantry Division in Italy. He became the Vice Chief of Staff of the Army (1967-1968); commanded the United States (US) Army Pacific (1968-1970) and the Continental Army Command (1970-73).
