Biddle, Anthony J. Drexel (Anthony Joseph Drexel), 1897-1961
Anthony Joseph Drexel Biddle, Jr. (b. Dec. 17, 1897, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-d. Nov. 13, 1961), was an American diplomat and served in the U.S. Army during both World Wars, reaching the rank of major general. Between the wars, during World War II, and later he had an active diplomatic career, serving as U.S. Minister or U.S. Ambassador to Norway, the Netherlands, Belgium, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, Greece, Poland, and Spain.
