Joseph Earl Arrington was born June 21, 1895 - LeRoy Madison and Priscilla Jane Brisendine Arrington, Reed Hill, Tenn. He graduated from Comanche County Public School (1909), Oklahoma Common School (1911), Anadarko High School (1916), the University of Utah (B.A. 1921), and the University of Chicago (M.A. 1923). He married Genevieve Thornton (19 July 1897, Pinto, UT), daughter of Edmund Taylor and Jennie Sargent Thornton, 11 Oct. 1932, Brooklyn, N.Y. The couple had one child, Wendell Snow (3 Oct., 1936, Brooklyn, N.Y.). Genevieve, also, earned degrees from the U of Utah (B.A.) and the U of Chicago (M.A.); she served as a social worker in the Department of Welfare, overseeing unemployment cases.
