(Arthur) Lloyd Ostendorf was one of the world's foremost authorities on Abraham Lincoln pictures. He wrote several books and contributed numerous articles, illustrations, and photographs on Lincoln to magazines, books, and television. He attended the School of the Dayton Art Institute, 1939 to 1942. He received honorary doctorate degrees from Lincoln College in Lincoln, Illinois, and from Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee. He was a member of the Dayton (Ohio) Society of Painters and Sculptors, the Dayton-Montgomery County Historical Society, and served as president of the Civil War Round Table of Dayton. He died in 2000.
