Olga O. Blumenfeld, a native of Poland, received her B.S. (1946) from the City College of New York; her M.S. (1948) from the University of Colorado; and her Ph. D (1957) from New York University, all in biochemistry. Her professional career has been focused on the Albert Einstein School of Medicine (Yeshiva University), where she has been an Assistant Professor (1962-1966); Associate Professor (1966-1972); and Professor (1972- ) in Biochemistry. She has also served as an Investigator for the National Institutes of Health. Her research has focused on the structure of the protein, glycophorin, and she is a member of the American Society of Biological Chemists and the American Society of Hematology.
