Aldrich, Lauren Winfield, 1848-1938.
Lauren Winfield Aldrich was born in 1848 in Boone County, Illinois. He enlisted in the army in 1867 and served as a corporal in the United States Army 30th Infantry Regiment, Company A, and as a sergeant in the 4th Infantry Regiment, Company H. His military duties were to protect the construction crews of the Union Pacific Railroad. Aldrich, who was discharged from the army in 1870, later became involved in veterans' societies and activities and was the State Commander for the Nebraska and Iowa chapters of the National Indian War Veterans. He died in 1938 at the age of 90. Aldrich's first name is sometimes spelled Loren.
