Seattle peace activist and teacher, Caroline Canafax was involved in numerous organizations, most notably the local branch of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF). The daughter of prominent members of the Seattle Jewish community, Meyer A. and Jane Dinkelspiel Newberger, Caroline became a teacher, but was blacklisted for her political beliefs. In the 1960s, Canafax obtained a job teaching in Head Start and, much later, in the Seattle Public Schools. During the 1980s and 1990s, she edited Pacific Vision, a WILPF composite of news alerts.
