Harford, James, d. ca. 1829.
James Harford (d. ca. 1829) was a Quaker merchant of Bristol, England, partner in the firm of Robson & Harford. Following the death of Joseph Robson, he became the sole proprietor of this mercantile firm. In 1760-1780's, he was involved a prolonged lawsuit against his debtor, a Fredericksburg merchant Roger Dixon (d. 1772) and his estate administered by his brother John. Philadelphia Quakers William Fisher, James Cowles Fisher, and Samuel W. Fisher and Virginia Quakers Robert Pleasants, Thomas Bates, and Micajah Crew were acting on his behalf.
