González, José Hipólito, Colonel.
Colonel in the Mexican military; public servant. Dates of birth and death unknown. González was in Matamoros in 1853 when Adrian Woll, then Gobernador y Comandante General de Tamaulipas, assigned González to the military. In 1862 González was appointed subsecretary of the Ministry of War and Navy by Juan Nepumuceno Almonte. Although González did not accompany the monarchists to Europe in their search for an appropriate monarch for Mexico, letters to González imply that González was allied with them.
