Heath McClung Steele (1884-1956) was a director and vice president of American Metal Company, Limited from 1923 to 1954. The company engaged in mining in many parts of the United States, Canada, Mexico, and South Africa. He was also president of various subsidiary companies, such as Compania Minera de Penoles, S. A. and Compania Metalurgica de Penoles, S. A. of Monterrey, Mexico and Southwest Potash Corporation of Carlsbad, New Mexico. Additionally, he held the position of chairman of the Tsumeb Corporation Limited of Tsumeb, South West Africa. In 1941, he served as the Chief of Bauxite-Alumina Branch, Aluminum-Magnesium Division in the Office of Production Management, Washington, D. C. Steele was active in professional organizations, serving as president of the Mining Club from 1942-1944 and an active member of the Mining and Metallurgic Society of America and the American Institute of Mining and Metallurgic Engineers.
